36 Crazyfists join the growing set of bands who’re previewing tracks online - the song “Absent Are The Saints”, taken from the forthcoming album The Tide And Its Takers, is being streamed exclusively at Metal Sanaz’s A Place For Metal page.
36 Crazyfists aren’t the sort of band to write about frivolous topics, either. Vocalist Brock Lindow says:
“Lyrically, “Absent Are The Saints” is about how some people pray for and wait for change it rather than making it happen themselves. It’s about being proactive about changing your life.”
An atheist’s anthem, perhaps? Hopefully the rest of The Tide And Its Takers, to be released on 26th May in the UK, will be of similar quality.
36 Crazyfists are currently crawling around the US on a mammoth tour with Devil Driver and friends, but they’ll be coming to Europe in the summer for three festival dates, one of which will be their third appearance at Download in the UK.
Once you’ve gone and checked out “Absent Are The Saints”, you can check out the 36 Crazyfists website - and there’s more music to be listened to on their MySpace page, alongside updates from the road and news about The Tide And Its Takers.

I was a big fan of the Crazyfists circa their first album (what was that, 2001?) and recall picking up somewhere that most of the band were Christian, although this is rarely reflected in their lyrical matter (a couple of tracks on the 2nd album made it a little more obvious IIRC). So I suspect that “Absent Are the Saints” is more metaphorical than an atheist anthem!
