Veterans blenders of punk and politics Anti-Flag have announced a release date for their forthcoming album The Bright Lights Of America, along with a handful of UK tour dates (and yet more to be confirmed). [image lifted from Wikipedia]
The Bright Lights Of America will be Anti-Flag’s seventh studio album, the result of them teaming up with legendary producer Tony Visconti. Visconti’s influence can be heard in the sound of modern rock music from T-Rex onward, but Anti-Flag are the first punk band he’s ever worked with.
The Bright Lights Of America will doubtless carry the same political charge as Anti-Flag’s previous work. But according to the band themselves, they’re taking a more personal angle this time. Says Justin Sane:
“For many years we have written about the trappings and injustice of the corporate state. With this collection of songs we travelled a new path. One of hope and one filled with the possibilities of change that we as individuals can create.”
Amen to that! You can catch Anti-Flag on the following dates:
- May 10 – Give it A Name Festival - Earls Court, London
- May 11 – Give it A Name Festival - Arena, Sheffield
- May 13 – Ironworks, Inverness
- May 14 – Fat Sam’s, Dundee
- May 15 – QMU Glasgow
- May 17 - Academy, Dublin, Ireland
- May 18 – Spring & Airbrake, Belfast
More dates are yet to be confirmed, so keep an eye on the Anti-Flag website and their MySpace page in the meantime.
