Future Of The Left hit the road again before Reading & Leeds

July 10th, 2008 by The Editor

Future Of The Left liveGood news for fans of great music - lovably loopy Welsh nutcases Future Of the Left are not only playing this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals, but they’re touring the UK beforehand.

Formed from the ashes of obscure but acclaimed spazzcore outfits mclusky and Jarcrew, Future Of The Left are almost impossible to categorise. If you’ve heard them already, you’ll know what I mean, and you’ll either love them or loathe them - they’re a Marmite band.

If you haven’t heard them, then you really should… they’re even better live than on record, so I’m told, though I’ve not yet had the chance to see the proof in person. But here’s another bunch of opportunities for me and you to catch Future Of The Left singing songs about contract bridge, the Countryside Alliance and pussycats called Colin (no, seriously):

  • 25th July - Proud Galleries, London
  • 11th Aug - Louisiana, Bristol
  • 12th Aug - Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff
  • 14th Aug - Belsonic Festival, Belfast
  • 15th Aug - Captains Rest, Glasgow
  • 16th Aug - Head Of Steam, Newcastle
  • 19th Aug - Forum, Tunbridge Wells
  • 20th Aug - Water Rats, London
  • 21st Aug - McLuskys, Kingston
  • 22nd Aug - Reading Festival (NME/Radio One Stage)
  • 23rd Aug - Leeds Festival (NME/Radio One Stage)

If I’ve not managed to convince you of Future Of The Left’s genius yet, here’s the video for “Manchasm” (featuring the aforementioned Colin):

If you don’t like that, then… oh, I don’t know, you probably have more sense than taste, maybe? And where’s the fun in that? Revel in more Future Of The Left insanity at their MySpace page, or check out their grown-up (but not-too-frequently updated) website (from where the above live photo was cribbed).
