Philadelphia’s Inner Party System are causing a media storm front that can’t be ignored, and some forthcoming shows in the UK will give those of us on this side of the pond to see what the hype is all about.
The UK live dates are almost all in London (because none of us yokels out in the Styx have any interest in anything new, obviously):
- 15th April – Hoxton Bar & Kitchen – London
- 16th April – Death Disco @ Notting Hill Arts Club – London
- 17th April – Radar @ The Social – Nottingham
- 18th April – Camden Crawl – Venue TBC – London*
- 19th April – Camden Crawl – Venue TBC – London*
- 19th April – Push @Astoria2 – London
- 21st April – Groovy Garden @ Kasbah - Coventry
- 22nd April – Club Fandango @ Dublin Castle – London
Inner Party System make a sort of alternative glitch-techno-rock-breaks type of noise. If that sounds vague, then I must apologise, but they’re genuinely not easy to put into a single bracket. They recently released a free-to-download cover version of Joy Division’s classic “Transmission”.
The trouble with that download link is you’ll have to give up an email address for it, so you may prefer to listen to it on Inner Party System’s MySpace page instead - which is not only easier, but also has more stuff to listen to.
I’m kind of torn on their stuff - I’m not sure if I like it or not. I’m leaning towards the positive, though; there’s a cyberpunkish intensity there that most beat-based music seems to lack. Go have a listen, and maybe poke around the Inner Party System website while you’re at it.
