Swedish metal extremists Meshuggah will be crawling their way around Europe in the wake of their recent new album, Obzen.
Obzen is extreme metal done properly – immensely heavy and powerful, but surprisingly intricate and melodic as well, and enhancing Meshuggah‘s well-deserved reputation as purveyors of high-grade product.
Meshuggah will release the track “Bleed” as a single, and it seems there’s a fancy video in the pipeline for it – you can watch the teaser-trailer thingy. [ Sorry folks, not on YouTube. Well, not yet, anyway. Nor have I got a release date for you ... it's all fun and games, this music journalism, y'know.
]
Edit: that’ll teach me to be slow out of the gate; turns out the video is available, but on MySpazz rather than YouTube. Here you go:
But I do have the UK dates from Meshuggah‘s forthcoming European adventure in September:
- 04 September – Brighton, Barfly
- 05 September – London, LA 2
- 06 September – Newcastle, Academy
- 08 September – Glasgow, Garage
- 09 September – Manchester, Academy 3
- 10 September – Sheffield, Corporation
- 11 September – Birmingham, Academy 2
- 12 September – Bristol, Academy 2
I’m guessing you’ll have to book early to get tickets for those shows, so think about hitting the venue websites and pre-ordering, especially for the London date.
September’s a long way off, though, so in the meantime you can poke around in Meshuggah’s website (they keep a tour diary blog, plus you can find the non-UK tour dates there), and there’s always free tunes to be heard on the MySpazz.
