Maybe it’s just me, but I’m not holding out much hope for the new Metallica album; the last three did irreparable damage to the high opinion I once had of them, and the band’s own attitude toward their fans vis a vis the whole Napster/P2P business didn’t help. You’d think that they’d become huge by some method other than the golden days of cassette copying or something.
But there’s some good news for fans nostalgic for the days when Metallica didn’t suck: this week sees the band’s first three seminal albums - Kill ‘Em All, Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets - re-released on super-high-quality deluxe double vinyl format after being remastered from the original tapes. Not sure why … And Justice For All didn’t make the cut, though. Go figure.
The Metallica reissues should be out right now in your local music emporium… well, the ones that stock vinyl, at least. Time to dust off those old turntables, perhaps?
