Mutiny! Punk pirates Goldblade announce new album, UK tour

July 28th, 2008 by The Editor

Goldblade liveMancunian punk-soul rock’n'rollers Goldblade are one of the few homegrown acts of their type to have graced both the now-defunct televisual venues Top of the Pops and CD:UK, though they’ve never really managed to make themselves a household name. Perhaps their forthcoming album Mutiny will do the trick - after all, their recent single “Jukebox Generation” nudged into the top 100 back in June.

Set for release on 8th September, Mutiny would appear to be pirate themed, which is kind of like trying to board a boat that has already sailed - pirates are sooo 2006, AMIRITE? Still, the theme fits these troubled times of record labels and internet companies branding their customers as pirates rather than fixing their antiquated business models, so perhaps Goldblade’s choice will ring true after all.

And what would an album be without a tour to go with it, hmm? You can catch Goldblade in all their raucous piratical glory at the following venues:

  • 6th September - London, Roundhouse (with X Ray Spex)
  • 27th September - Manchester, Zizis (free all-ages afternoon gig)
  • 10th October - Glasgow, Rockers
  • 11th October - Newcastle, The End
  • 17th October - Leeds, Rios
  • 18th October - Manchester, University
  • 23rd October - York, Fibbers
  • 24th October - Carlisle, Brickyard
  • 25th October - Hartlepool, Studio
  • 29th October - Brighton, Engine Rooms
  • 30th October - Swindon, 12 Bar
  • 31st October - Weston Super Mare, Hobbits
  • 1st November - Birmingham, Barfly
  • 7th November - Halifax, The Shay
  • 8th November - Kettering, Sawyers
  • 9th November - Southampton, Talking Heads

Get a taste for the deck-swabbin’ punk’n'roll sound on MySpace, and check out Goldblade’s grown-up website too, if you fancy. There’ll be a review of Mutiny here at The Dreaded Press some time soon.
