New My Bloody Valentine album in the pipeline

My Bloody Valentine - Isn’t AnythingMy Bloody Valentine were quite possibly the most influential and important rock band of the early nineties; you’re welcome to disagree, but I will insist on dueling you unto the death with Fender Jaguars at dawn.

Today brings much cause for rejoicing, as Kevin Shields, the man behind My Bloody Valentine, has announced that (as has been rumoured for some time) the band are to reform, and release a new album. The collection will feature some songs that never made it onto the original albums, Loveless and and Isn’t Anything; songs from an unfinished work that Shields and bandmate Bilinda Butcher were working on when the band dropped off the radar in the mid-nineties, and (yes!) some brand new material.

This is great news - if you don’t believe me, get a copy of Loveless and listen to it as loudly as possible. Now, if we can just convince Shields to sign My Bloody Valentine on to the recently announced Swervedriver reunion tour … [Story via Pitchfork]
