The folk at Ferret Music know how to speak to “the kids”, which is why they’re previewing soon-to-be-released material from The Banner, The Hottness and Elysia on everyone’s love-to-hate social-networking eyesore, MySpace.
The Banner’s track is titled “Dusk”, and is taken from an album called Frailty which will be released on 9th June.
The Hottness provide “The Ghost” from Stay Classy, their debut album - which will be reviewed right here on The Dreaded Press before its release on 28th April.
Elysia’s freebie is called “Box Of Need(les)”; arguably the youngest band on the Ferret roster, they’ll be unleashing the full album Lion Of Judas on 9th June.
Free music to listen to is always good, but I’m going to risk sounding like a curmudgeonly old man by saying the sooner MySpace gives up the ghost and makes way for something slightly less made of FAIL the happier I’ll be.
Seriously; a closed API, autoplay and gameable stats, masses of hideous strobing ads and a layout methodology that looked old in 2005 … they all combine to make me loathe having to go to MySpace for any reason whatsoever - which in this line of work is fairly frequently. Get the hell onto Facebook already - before that becomes the last big thing.
Rant over.
There’s a nice Ferret Music website for grown-ups where you can find out more about the bands on their roster if you hate MySpace too. But if you wanna hear the tunes you’ll have to wade in the swamp.
