In a move that has been rumoured almost since the choose-your-own-price release of In Rainbows, Radiohead have inked a deal with XL Records to distribute the album in all territories excluding North America. [Via Pitchfork, and just about everywhere else]
What’s baffling is that all the people who hailed the digital release as a master-stroke are now claiming that this is somehow a betrayal of principle. Isn’t the whole idea behind the free-the-music business model that you entice people to buy physical product in the long run?
