Who the heck are Shinedown? They’re a new name to me, but apparently they’re big business on the far side of the pond thanks to their first two hit albums Leave a Whisper and Us and Them. UK audiences will get a chance to see them in the flesh in October.
The downside being that, in order to see Shinedown, you’ll have to buy a ticket to a Disturbed show. Thankfully, internet ordering means no one has to see you do it, and you can always bribe your postman to keep quiet. To judge by the tunes on their MySpace, Shinedown don’t subscribe to the “nu-metal with monkey noises” formula of their tour-mates; sounds like a more straight-up hard-rock/post-grunge style, which is infinitely preferable by comparison.
So you could always skip out before the headliners and find a good pub before the last train home… here are the dates:
- October 4th - LONDON, Brixton Academy
- October 6th - MANCHESTER, Apollo
- October 7th - GLASGOW, Academy
- October 8th - NOTTINGHAM, Rock City
- October 10th - BIRMINGHAM, Academy
And by way of a Shinedown taster, here’s the video for “Devour”:
Oh, you want more? You’d best hit the MySpace, then… and you can always poke around the grown-up’s Shinedown website too.
