Reading back my previous review of KASMS‘ “Bone You” on this here site, I was much kinder than I remembered being about them.
Frankly, “Male Bonding” is just more of the same but less fun. Purposely thin-sounding, rumbling and rattling along in a bid to recreate that early Banshees vibe but, whereas the Banshees achieved those visceral thrills through poverty (both in financial and talent terms) this is just so painfully, designably artless, so studied in its shambles that it leaves no trace on the listener.
“Male Bonding” is not weird enough to titillate, not grimy enough to stimulate, not catchy enough to charm; it’s well London innit and they know famous(ish) people so they have (and will continue to) pull in the gigs and force out a few lines from the usual places, but this miserable bastard gave KASMS the benefit of the doubt last time round, and I’ll be buggered if I can be bothered to do so this time.
Boring.
