Situations vacant - metal bands seek musicians

January 16th, 2008 by The Editor

HatchetTwo opportunities for talented musicians have just been announced - but for a change, the guitarists are out of luck.

First up, Bay-Area thrashers Hatchet are in need of a new drummer:

“Due to personal and musical differences we have decided to part ways with our original drummer Slave. That being said we are actively seeking a new permanent drummer to fill our line-up. We are looking for a talented, serious musician, who will be 100% dedicated to our band. Must have your own transportation and a job or source of income, and be willing to practice 2-3 times a week at our Petaluma Rehearsal Studio.”

If you’re interested in the position, you can make contact through Hatchet’s MySpace page.

The Ocean CollectiveSecondly comes an opportunity on the other side of the pond - Berlin’s experimental concept-rock band The Ocean Collective seek a skilled bass-player:

“It seems like this issue always comes back to us … due to The Ocean Collective’s current bass players’ inability to cope with our heavy touring schedules we need a new bass player for all our upcoming touring activities.

What we’re looking for is a nice, sociable guy with skills, dedication, experience, smooth and precise playing, good tone (finger and pick), time for extensive tours, the ability to read sheet music (not necessary, but advantageous), and a high level of tolerance for the typical on-the-road stress.
If you’re a bass-player located in Europe (and not just a bass-playing guitarist), please write an email to info@theoceancollective.com .”

Don’t want much, do they? ;) Still, you’ll need some clout and skill to be able to play along with that lot.

Best of luck, job-hunters!
