This Ain’t No Picnic … in fact it’s a festival from Smalltown America Records

Smalltown America Records logoThose lovely folks at Smalltown America Records are doing something that I wasn’t entirely sure anyone was going to manage to do this year – namely putting on a festival that actually looks like it’ll be worth the ticket price. The festival in question is called This Ain’t No Picnic, and will be spread across the weekend of 27th and 28th September.

This Ain’t No Picnic is different in a number of ways. First of all, it’s taking place in the King’s College London student’s union buildings, which are not only conveniently located for public transport and rather nice to look at (if you’re big on old architecture, that is) but also extremely unlikely to disappear in a swamp of mud, even if it does rain.

Secondly, it’s being done by Smalltown America – so that means it’s all based in the old-school DIY punk ethos, and won’t be full of crappy stage-school indie bands. The following bands are already confirmed for This Ain’t No Picnic, with more in the pipeline:

Future Of The Left? Result! And Smalltown America being who they are, maybe there’s a chance that Jetplane Landing will play as well … and those two bands are worth pretty much any ticket price, as far as I’m concerned.

Which makes it all the more awesome that This Ain’t No Picnic tickets are only £25 for the whole weekend, including punk rock disco action until 4am. But wait, that’s not all – if you get in early and book before 27th June, they’re just £20! What are you waiting for, then?

I don’t know about you, but as far as I’m concerned Michael Eavis can shove Jay-Z and his twenty foot fence where the sun doesn’t shine.
