Shouldn’t take long. Apologies for brevity: Polyp EP took half hour, want time back.
Youthmovies: was Youth Movie Soundtrack; friends of Foals, Shoes (Blood Red), 65daysofstatic, Oxford musos. Follow up to album Good Nature on own Try Harder Records.
First track: “Magic Diamond”. Excellent, bit bonkers, not so much genre-hopping as drunken staggering between. Bit prog, bit Jazz, bit poncey, bit literary. Treat. Whets appetite.
Other five tracks: pointless. Spoken words over horizontal bed of guitar; Burroughs did this better despite being dead at time. Terrible disappointment. Thinks is clever; done before, done better. Music better than poetry, this just poetry with chin-stroke muzak.
Like Youthmovies? Foals fans, people in biz. Dislike Polyp EP? People with finite time to live. Get for first track. Really good.
Bye.
